Hyundai Motor Company which was founded in 1967 is today the undisputable leader in the automotive industry in Korea and one of the leading automotive manufacturers of the world.

The company, with its workforce of more than 52 thousand employees, is one of the cornerstones of the Hyundai Group. Ulsan plant of Hyundai Motor Company is the largest automotive manufacturing complex of the world with a production capacity of 1.5 million per year. Jeonju, the heavy commercial vehicle plant with a production capacity of 100 thousand vehicles per year started production in 1995 whereas Assan plant with a production capacity of 300 thousand passenger vehicles per year started operations in 1996. In line with the increasing demand, Hyundai Motor Company is planning to set up a new plant in Yulcheon with an annual capacity of 500 thousand vehicles. Following the acquisition of Kia in 1998, Hyundai currently controls more than 70% of the Korean automotive market. Hyundai Motor Company, which is the world’s 4th largest automotive manufacturer, sold 7,1 million vehicles in 2012.
